I. Introduction Portugal is an independent country located on the south-eastern tip of the European continent. Together Portugal and Spain form the Iberian Peninsula. Portugal has a surface area of 91,906 km2, including Madeira and Azores Islands and has about 10 million inhabitants, 50 % of which are economically active. The most common and principal official language is Portuguese, however, in some regions it is used jointly with other dialects
